But I got an interesting little story.
Mom was weedwhacking. She asked me to make her a salad as she was busy with her weeds. Which naturally got into some joshing about her crop. Which triggered a 'I remember when grandma and Aunt Lu' story.
Gotta love 'old days' stories.
Grandma..well she's still a wild filly. Many people would deny their grandparents were capable of illegal activities. Me, well if I'm honest with myself, I'm sure grandma has done her fair share. Actually, I know she has. Mom has ranted about it from time to time.
Aunt Lu is my favorite aunt. She's nice, funny, one of those 'she's been an upstanding person all her life' type people. Apparently not as much as I thought.
So the story goes, the neighbors were a bunch of druggies. They owned a cornfield and a stretch of forested land. This, in turn fueled the rumor that they grew their own weed.
Sooo...being the brilliant individuals they are, grandma and Aunt Lu gathered their flashlights one night and set out to acquire some of this elleged stash. Apparently they didn't know what weed looked like. But hell, it couldn't be that hard to find a 'big leaved plant' in a forest right?
They army crawled through the field, through the woods, taking what they thought was marijuana.
They dried it in the oven, on the wall, over the fireplace...Mom said the house looked like something out of the movies, you know, the witch's hut.
Commenting on how the crushed up leaves didn't really look like weed, they smoked it anyway. Apparently it didn't taste like weed either. So that was the end of that.
Just thinking about what local plants look remotely like marijuana, I'm surprised they're alive. And seeing how simple those two are, many toxic plants have 'big leaves'. Some I've even had to do a double take on.
This just hits home when I add in the fact that grandma spent over a year taking care of the marijuana plant of may uncle, thinking it was a tomato plant. She couldn't understand why it wasn't producing 'matoes.

But, seriously, i really do miss you! You better be taking care of yourself and NOT breaking things...or people :3
